Death Disco, the international rock'n'roll party founded by Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream and Oasis discoverer and Libertines manager Alan McGee and Led Zeppelin, T-Rex and U2 guru BP Fallon, is set for its Bay Area debut May 21-23.
Death Disco plays in London every week and has just started as a monthly in New York. Spinning maximum rock'n'roll and punk and glam, guest DJs who have joined McGee and Fallon include Courtney Love, the Libertines, Shane MacGowan, the Hives, and Primal Scream, with everyone from My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields and Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie to Kate Moss and Anita Pallenberg to Jack and Meg from The White Stripes gracing the Death Disco dancefloor.
Not for nothing is the Death Disco slogan "The Freedom to Rock!"
May 21st sees the debut of Death Disco SF at Li Po Lounge in Chinatown, with DJ sets from DD residents BP Fallon and Miss Jaime Coon, as well as Echo Park Records' Alexis Rivera and DJ Butterscotch (Peaches' manager), and a special performance from talented rhythm rockers the Blood Arm, who'll be opening for the Fall and Franz Ferdinand in the next month, this after being feted by the Strokes and played on Rodney on the Roq's show. May 22nd sees the debut
of Death Disco Oakland at the Stork Club, with DJ sets from Fallon, Coon, and Rivera, and performances from the Blood Arm and East Bay locals the Kids. May 23rd sees the Bay Area debut of BP and Jaime's freeform musical mindjob Deep Goat at the Casanova Lounge in the Mission; recently Deep Goat has featured guest DJs including Sean Lennon and members of Blondie and the New York Dolls. Before the Bay Area shows the tour will make stops in Los Angeles and
