Help me make a difference!

My name is Bonnie Cardell and I am riding my Bike from SF to LA to raise money for AIDS/LifeCycle, the official cycling event in support of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the HIV/AIDS services of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. AIDS/LifeCycle is rallying cyclists, volunteers and donors to raise needed funds to support critical HIV/AIDS services.

I am throwing this event Friday May 23rd to raise money for the ride as well as AIDS awareness. All the proceeds are going to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and all the bands are performing for free. We are going to charge a $5-25 suggested donation at the door.

I am trying to do my part to help organizations whose funding has been drastically cut or even "cut-off" from the federal and state budgets due to the Bush Administration. This organization is in dire need of funds and any pledges that they received are being used as soon as they arrive.

We will also have other prizes to give away. We are going to offer a raffle ticket for every five dollars spent over the door cover to push the fundraiser, and the prizes will be fun and cool. So everyone who pays more than $5 has a chance to win something. We will provide finger type foods if people are hungry or come directly from work.

The reason I chose this event is that I have witnessed several friends and family members suffer from serious illnesses such as Cancer and AIDS and when I say "suffer" this is more than the average person can imagine in a realm of pain and discomfort and lack of quality of life.

Without centers such as the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Women's Cancer Research Center for example and many many other wonderful programs, people would suffer more, and sometimes alone. I am doing this to help those who suffer.
